Equity Funder Learning Community – Q1

Wednesday, February 7 | 10:00am-11:00am (CT)

During this meeting, we’ll welcome Alyssa Kenney, State Broadband and Digital Equity Director with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to discuss digital equity efforts embedded in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – which provides $65 billion to connect all Americans to high-speed broadband internet that is both affordable and reliable. While a significant portion of these funds will be allocated to direct infrastructure investments, a portion of these dollars will be used to promote digital equity efforts – in partnership with key community stakeholders committed to supporting the following residents:

  • Households with incomes below 150% of the federal poverty level
  • Aging individuals, 60 years of age or older
  • Incarcerated individuals except those in Federal correctional facilities
  • Veterans
  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Individuals with a language barrier, including English learners and those with low levels of literacy
  • Members of racial or ethnic minority groups
  • Individuals who primarily reside in a rural area

This session will be an opportunity for (1) funders in WI to learn more about opportunities to support digital equity efforts in Wisconsin as well as (2) the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to learn from funders about equitable grantmaking strategies and key considerations for building trust-based relationships with community-based grantees.
