Investing Locally via CDFIs
July 13, 2021
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Community investing doesn’t happen overnight. Instead, it happens intentionally in coordination with the board of directors and trusted advisors. In many cases, an investment in a local Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) is the first step for many foundations. Incourage will talk about how and why they first invested in the lending portfolio of a local CDFI and how that investment helped moved them forward on their community investing journey.
Panelists include:
Wisconsin Impact Investing Collaborative member: Dawn Neuman, CFO, Incourage
Guest panelists: Laura West-Kralcik, vice president, lending, Community Assets for People, a subsidiary of CAP Services and Michael Miller, chief investment officer, Crewcial Partners
*Reference materials include Place-Focused Foundations Unlocking Philanthropic Capital for Local Impact Investing (Opportunity Finance Network) and A Foundation Guide to Investing in CDFIs (Northwest Area Foundation)
