GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay, a fund of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, has awarded seven grants totaling more than $51,000 to local nonprofit programs.
The Women’s Fund endowment provides grants to local nonprofit organizations that offer programs and services supporting leadership and self-esteem initiatives for women and girls. Since 1998, the Women’s Fund of Greater Green Bay has granted more than $875,000 to almost 100 initiatives in our community. Grants from this fund make an impact every day by supporting thousands of women and girls in our community!
Grants are awarded based on a competitive application process including review by a team of community volunteers. The next deadline for Women’s Fund grants applications is January 11, 2019. Online applications may be accessed at www.womensfundgb.org.
Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin, Women's Recovery Journey Transportation Fund
Grant dollars will be used to reduce transportation barriers for Women's Recovery Journey program participants. This intensive program empowers women recovering from alcohol and other drug addiction to better care for themselves and their families.
Eye Heart World, Human Trafficking Prevention Program
Grant dollars will provide an expanded human trafficking prevention program that focuses on empowering teen girls to not fall prey to exploitation. By partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay and Young Life Green Bay, prevention programming will be enhanced beyond a one-day event to include six additional mentor-led, interactive sessions.
Foundations Health & Wholeness Inc. , Women Experiencing Homelessness & Trauma
This grant will allow for the delivery of a Women's Empowerment Group for women experiencing homelessness at the New Community Shelter in Green Bay. The program will provide ongoing individual and group mental health, trauma, and alcohol and other drug addiction counseling to address mental illness as a root cause of homelessness.
House of Hope Green Bay, Inc., Life Skills Program
Grant dollars will assist clients in acquiring basic life skills that enable homeless youth and families to gain and maintain self-sufficiency. The Life Skills Program will utilize class-based teaching, one-on-one mentors, and experiential learning to build necessary skills that help clients tackle the demands of life.
Greater Green Bay YMCA, Inc., YMCA Girls Night Out Program 2018
This grant will fund programming designed to help fifth-grade girls build social emotional competencies and healthy life skills to successfully navigate a challenging phase in their lives. The relevant, experiential activities led by positive adult female mentors explore positive peer relationships, social emotional learning, health and wellness, life skills and how to positively bridge to sixth grade.
Golden House, Healthy Relationship Building for Young Women
This grant award will fund the facilitation of an innovative evidence-based relationship-building program that will help youth and community partners understand the dynamics of abusive relationships and gain skills that encourage healthy relationships.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin, One to One Youth Mentoring
Grant dollars will be used to fund the delivery of one-to-one mentoring programming for younger girls in second through fourth grade. The dollars will be used to train, engage, and support mentors and young girls.
