Community Foundation to Award Scholarships

Stevens Point, Wisconsin (January 3, 2019) – The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin is accepting scholarship applications now through February 15th from Central Wisconsin students planning to attend college in the 2019-2020 school year.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals throughout Portage and Waushara counties, the Foundation will distribute more than $175,000 to area students through 185 scholarship funds. Eligible scholarship applicants include graduating high school seniors, current college students, non-traditional students and graduate students who are pursuing higher education at a University, Technical College, or Professional School.

“We encourage everyone to apply,” stated Marlee Bokhoven, the Grants & Scholarships Coordinator at the Community Foundation. “We offer a wide variety of scholarship opportunities that are awarded to students with different majors, skills, and interests.”

A new scholarship offered through the Foundation this year is the Delta Dental Service Scholarship, which provides five scholarships to area graduating seniors who are planning to attend a four year college or university in Wisconsin. Recipients will be selected based on their commitment to giving back to their community.

“For many years, Delta Dental has had a positive influence on future generations by providing scholarship opportunities to area high school seniors who plan to continue their education,” said Ann Boson, Director of Philanthropy & Public Benefit at Delta Dental of Wisconsin. “We know the Delta Dental Service Scholarship will be better utilized at the Foundation where their team has the expertise to manage the scholarship and ensure consistent selection criteria year after year. We are very excited about this partnership with the Foundation.”

Last year, the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin awarded nearly $160,000 to 175 students throughout Central Wisconsin.
